Young Conservatives Debate Club – Discovering the Divine through Debate
The first Young Conservatives Debate Club was organized by the Christian Democratic Institute, Te Deum Youth Organization, and IKSZ.
Our special guest was Dr. Áron Giró–Szász, president of the Axiom Institute, who spoke about the origins and significance of debate culture and the importance of constructive dialogue. He emphasized that constructive debate provides an opportunity to explore topics more deeply and helps to develop reasoning and communication skills. The essence of debate – as already recognized by the ancient Greeks – is not victory, but the pursuit of truth.
The following debates covered two exciting topics: Family life as the best way to achieve human fulfillment and The ability to integrate immigrants of other religions into Christian culture.
Participants used the “funnel” method, moving from broad contexts to specific statements, while the affirmative and opposing teams engaged in arguments, questions, and interactive dialogue to deepen understanding.
The aim of the Debate Club is not only to encourage meaningful dialogue but also to establish a conservative intellectual forum where young people can argue based on values, develop debate skills, and apply Christian thought to social and political challenges.
Thank you to all participants for contributing to such a meaningful and engaging evening!
