Book Launch: The Curse of Popularity

Together with the Brussels Office of the Foundation for a Civic Hungary the Christian Democratic Institute had the pleasure to host a book launch on September 25th for the book published together with the Center for Fundamental Rights  “The Curse of Popularity” in Brussels.

The book is edited by Bernadett Petri and Kristóf Heil, with essays from Hungarian, Slovenian, Venezuelan, Italian, and German contributors. The various chapters in the book explore the nature and history of the phenomenon that has come to be known as populism.

The book launch was opened with a brief speech from Ernő Schaller-Baross, MEP and Member of the Board of Trustees of the Christian Democratic Institute.

 

The opening speeches were followed by a lively roundtable discussion between Patricia Chagnon, MEP; Ladislav Ilčić, MEP; Robert Tyler, Senior Policy Advisor at New Direction and  Bernadett Petri, one of the editors of the book and Ágnes Magyar Deputy Head of Brussels office of the Foundation for a Civic Hungary.
